Predator-prey inlab:

progress

Goldfish “prey”

sticky note “predators” (any color)

large plate “pond”

create an ecosystem “pond”  start with one fish each cycle, double the number of fish then drop a sticky note on the  plate. If the sticky note touches a fish, next cycle drop two notes repeat, doubling the fish population and for every sticky note that touches a fish, add another predator graph your results

    Random cards:

use smaller sticky notes use larger sticky notes only double the number of fish every other turn triple the number of sticky notes each turn

      Questions:

what is using a smaller or bigger note a metaphor for? how would a change of seasons change the graph if it were land based? If it were land based on lynxes and hares, which would be the prey and which the predator?during the "hunt" which of the prey are eaten first?how does this improve the gene pool?
