Migration

  1. Create a wall map of the island chain with wind direction and air flow around the islands
  2. Use windy.com to create layers in progressdifferent colors for wind flow at different altitudes
  3. Look up the water flow around the islands and map this out, with velocities marked
  4. Questions:
    1. why are the two channels between Hawaii and Maui, Molokai and Oahu the most turbulent?
    2. why is the NE wind much stronger in Waimea than it is in Honoka'a or Kohala?
    3. why would canoe voyagers avoid the Alanuihaha channel?
    4. what other places in the world would be like this?
